🧭 Why Visit
Consistently rated the world's best zoo, Singapore's rainforest park replaces cages with moats and canopy — orangutans travel free ropes above the paths, and the 'open concept' pioneered here changed zoo design globally.
🏛️ A Little History
Opened in 1973 on the Upper Seletar reservoir, the zoo bet early on open enclosures and conservation breeding; the Night Safari (1994, world's first), River Wonders, and Bird Paradise grew around it into the Mandai wildlife precinct.
💡 Did You Know?
The zoo's free-ranging orangutan habitat is the world's first, its Ah Meng was Singapore's most famous animal celebrity, and the adjacent Night Safari remains the planet's original nocturnal wildlife park.
